Welcome August!!

Hi Everyone!!

Here it is August!! Where did July go????

All I can really say I did in July was mark the junior high literacy assessments in Halifax....for a week...but other than that....oh my goodness!!

I have had many lunches out with various friends and that has been FUN!!

Now it is August....and I am working on a summer literacy camp. After that I will buckle down and get ready for my year with my new crop of kids!!

There are zillions of things I love about teaching and school....one thing is the fresh start you get every September!! You get new children and always a new chance to improve upon everything.

I have a funny little story to tell you all.....it's really silly and maybe only I even find it funny...and only after a lot of reflection. OK.....I was at the marking sessions in the city. One night my husband (who came up midweek) and I decided to go out to the Superstore and pick up a few things. I looked that those black bags they sell for $0.99. So, I looked at one and wondered if you can wash them as often you get meat drippings or spilled milk in your bags. I wouldn't want to reuse them if they could spread contamination or even smell badly. SO, I asked L if he thought you could wash them and he said he wasn't sure and looked at the tags. SO, then I proceeded (like a dog with a bone that will not let go!) to ask the cashier....he said he wasn't sure but called to the manager and asked him. He said he wasn't sure but he uses them and has had no problems. This conversation goes on for a while when finally the poor cashier said..."Ma'am, if you have a problem , I will buy you a new one!!" Then I realized how silly I was being about a 99 cent bag.......maybe it is one of those moments that you need to be there!!!

IT is one month......one month and Mar will be living 3.5 hrs away....now compared to Mike being in Austraila.....3.5 kms is a hop, skip and a jump ...it's just that she is my only child and this is the first time she will be away from me for so long!! I am very proud of her and also the fact that she has this awesome opportunity. Mostly I am happy and thrilled but every now and then I let me mind run wild and I end up not being able to breathe!!

Well...I have had a teacher call me and ask for math mentoring.....so today....that's what I am doing!! Off to the Teacher Centre to work for the day!!

I am wondering if anyone knows....was that Aussie's photo in the Vanguard on the Register float?????

Have a great day everyone....stay near a fan.....it's already sweltering!!!

Wonder how Nannan is enjoying her new camper, Winnie????? Can't wait to hear!! Wonder if the apricots are working???? Hope so!!!

Talk soon.....:)))) hugs!!

Friday the 13th

Yesterday was Friday the 13th and I hate being superstitious...but the date was on my mind. I am not sure why because I know of many negative things that have happened and the 13th hasn't really been attached to any......but I was still overly cautious all day.

First of all I thought L and I should make a little trip to the local eye glass shop and choose new frames....which we did. The whole time he was biting at the bit wanting to come home and mow!! He has been working extra shifts this week and his only time home thus far has been raining or at least too damp to mow. The lady that waited on us, was new. of course...so it was a very slow process with her having to run out back to fill in almost every blank! Finally, we are out of there and it is almost late afternoon.

L has to go and pick up his mower at the repair shop...another delay. He is gone for an unusual amount of time. He finally arrives home but was as white as a sheet!

AS the young man was driving L's ride on up the ramp of his trailer, it flipped up in the air and came crashing down on the poor guy!! The hood of the ride on is now smashed and the poor guy is hurt!!

Finally, L makes his way home through town. AS he is getting out of his car to start unloading the ride on, he sees smoke pouring out from the back, where the battery is stored. TO make a long story short.....he was hours running to town twice to get parts to repair what had been on fire. When I heard the mower actually start.....I knew things were improving.

Our lawn is now mowed but it was very late!!

I am so happy that today is the 14th......

Talk soon!!

I'm Back!!

Hi Everybody!!

It has been a while since I have blogged. Most of the problem has been the lack of time but also I am not able to blog on my old blog for some strange reason. Let's see if this one will actually work!

First of all, M graduated grade 12 and even received four awards. WE were just over the moon to see her cross that stage!

Now we have spent most of our time getting her ready to move to university...so much to do...so much to buy!!

Before I go on and on...I better make sure this is working and that all my blogger friends are able to find me now!!
