Welcome August!!

Hi Everyone!!

Here it is August!! Where did July go????

All I can really say I did in July was mark the junior high literacy assessments in Halifax....for a week...but other than that....oh my goodness!!

I have had many lunches out with various friends and that has been FUN!!

Now it is August....and I am working on a summer literacy camp. After that I will buckle down and get ready for my year with my new crop of kids!!

There are zillions of things I love about teaching and school....one thing is the fresh start you get every September!! You get new children and always a new chance to improve upon everything.

I have a funny little story to tell you all.....it's really silly and maybe only I even find it funny...and only after a lot of reflection. OK.....I was at the marking sessions in the city. One night my husband (who came up midweek) and I decided to go out to the Superstore and pick up a few things. I looked that those black bags they sell for $0.99. So, I looked at one and wondered if you can wash them as often you get meat drippings or spilled milk in your bags. I wouldn't want to reuse them if they could spread contamination or even smell badly. SO, I asked L if he thought you could wash them and he said he wasn't sure and looked at the tags. SO, then I proceeded (like a dog with a bone that will not let go!) to ask the cashier....he said he wasn't sure but called to the manager and asked him. He said he wasn't sure but he uses them and has had no problems. This conversation goes on for a while when finally the poor cashier said..."Ma'am, if you have a problem , I will buy you a new one!!" Then I realized how silly I was being about a 99 cent bag.......maybe it is one of those moments that you need to be there!!!

IT is one month......one month and Mar will be living 3.5 hrs away....now compared to Mike being in Austraila.....3.5 kms is a hop, skip and a jump ...it's just that she is my only child and this is the first time she will be away from me for so long!! I am very proud of her and also the fact that she has this awesome opportunity. Mostly I am happy and thrilled but every now and then I let me mind run wild and I end up not being able to breathe!!

Well...I have had a teacher call me and ask for math mentoring.....so today....that's what I am doing!! Off to the Teacher Centre to work for the day!!

I am wondering if anyone knows....was that Aussie's photo in the Vanguard on the Register float?????

Have a great day everyone....stay near a fan.....it's already sweltering!!!

Wonder how Nannan is enjoying her new camper, Winnie????? Can't wait to hear!! Wonder if the apricots are working???? Hope so!!!

Talk soon.....:)))) hugs!!

Hey LJLC, oops I mean MM... I am still awake but starting to get a headache from typing on this computer so long... Or maybe it's all the sun I got out at the exhibition today?!

Empty nest syndrome... my parents didn't really get it with us since by the time Kenneth (the youngest) was moving out to Ottawa, Paul (the middle child) was practically moved back in after finishing his studies... I was the oldest so the parents didn't get an empty nest for a few years after me.

One thing I do notice though, my relationship with my parents is much stronger now that I live away... phone calls and visits bring SO much excitement to my mom and dad... I've seen Mar around a bit and she seems awfully mature so I think you're gonna find her do VERY well and coming back to visit as much as she can. Where is she going anyway? What is she taking?

You'll get used to her being gone, it's going to take some time though. I miss everyone back home alot...It's been just over a year since I sae everybody, and it seems so strange.

So much to comment on!!! You have been busy!! Have you had any time to just relax?? We'll have to get together to talk about all that literacy stuff---
The bag story IS hilarious-- I just can't picture you doing that-- Mar must be getting excited--It will be difficult for you to get used to-- come on up sometime!!

Actually, that is a very funny story...I love it! I especially love the part about absolutely nobody knowing if it was washable or not!!!!!! I sure hope you bought one and tried to wash it..the curiosity is killing me!
If you read my blog you will see, that my summer was horrible..but all that was redeemed by my new Granddaughter. I can't believe I have two new granddaughters in such a short time.
It's amazing!
